Marching Band

The Lobo Marching Band is the most visible and largest spirit organization on campus. We are the soundtrack to the football games! We also participate in several marching competitions throughout the Fall semester. This group is made up of all band students throughout the Lehman Band and Color Guard, and is a combination of musical and visual art!

Percussion

Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Credit per Semester: 1

Prerequisite: Audition for placement
Director: Analisa Gonzalez

Not only is the percussion a vital part of the full ensemble experience for all students, but there are many opportunities for individual and small ensemble performances, as well.  Students in percussion will perform pieces written specifically for percussion ensembles, as well as have opportunities to participate in Lehman’s Indoor Drumline, which competes in late Fall and early Spring.

Color Guard

Course Length: 2 Semesters

Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Credit per Semester: 1

Guard provides a theatrical component to marching band in the fall and an opportunity for more individualized “ensemble performance” in the spring through winter guard performances and competitions. This program can be compared to theater with its use of dramatic, musical, and dance elements. Instruction is given in dance, and equipment. Color / Winter Guard members participate in football games, parades, field shows, color guard shows and other outside activities associated with band. Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. The Color Guard is part of the Marching Band.

Wind Ensemble

Course Length: 2 Semesters

Grade:9,10, 11, 12
Credit per Semester: 1

Prerequisite: Instructor’s approval
Conductor: Nate Smith

This is a Level V-VI high school instrumental music class. Students must audition to be enrolled in this class. Wind Ensemble provides the opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation of music through performance. This band performs for school and community events throughout the year. They also participate at local, regional, and state music contests. Students selected for Wind Ensemble show an above-average understanding of their instrument and display a high level of musical sophistication as demonstrated through their performance. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student’s grade. This band participates at local and regional band contests and festivals, and is also part of the Marching Band which performs at all LHS football games.

Symphonic Band

Course Length: 2 Semesters

Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Credit per Semester: 1

Prerequisite: Audition for placement
Conductor: Matthew Garrison

This is a Level III-IV high school instrumental music class. Students must audition to be enrolled in this class. This band is a training group to prepare students with skills necessary to participate in Wind Ensemble. Literature is geared to the members’ abilities with emphasis being placed on improvement of tone quality and technical proficiency. There are opportunities for students to excel in this band and move into Wind Ensemble. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student’s grade. This band participates at local and regional band contests and festivals, and is also part of the Marching Band which performs at all football games.

Concert Band

Course Length: 2 Semesters

Conductor: Patrick Lewis

This is a Level II-III high school instrumental music class. Students must audition to be enrolled in this class. This band is a training group to prepare students with skills necessary to participate in Wind Ensemble. Literature is geared to the members’ abilities with emphasis being placed on improvement of tone quality and technical proficiency. There are opportunities for students to excel in this band and move into Wind Ensemble. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student’s grade. This band participates at local and regional band contests and festivals, and is also part of the Marching Band which performs at all football games.
